Howmet Aerospace Production Operator, Insert Manufacturing in Australia

Setup, operate and monitor manufacturing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. Machine setups includes but is not limited to insert forming machines, wire rollers and injection moulders.

  • Achieve production targets as stipulated by the production schedule and in accordance with safety and quality standards.

  • Machined parts testing during setting and operating stages

  • Ensure detailed handovers are undertaken with incoming/outgoing operators to ensure continued production outputs.

  • Complete required documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Troubleshoot machine setup and operational issues in a timely manner, or escalate to maintenance where appropriate.

    Undertake housekeeping activities to ensure the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.

  • Undertake housekeeping activities at regular intervals and at the end of each shift. This includes, but is not limited to, machines, workbenches, floors and storage racks.

    Assemble hand tools in accordance with standard operating procedures. Assemble hand tools in accordance with standard operating procedures and within production output specifications.

    Proactively participate in continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing performance. Participate constructively in continuous improvement events and contribute initiatives which have the opportunity to improve COGS, safety and quality. Continuous improvement activities include but are not limited to 3S, 6S and Kaizen Events

    Assist with on the job training of other Production Operators Provide assistance in the training of other Production Operators to ensure a competent and multi-skilled workforce.

    Undertake routine maintenance activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures, to ensure machine reliability and product quality is maintained.

  • Machine maintenance undertaken in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Non-standard maintenance issues reported in a timely manner.

  • Consumables ordered as required

    Prepare tooling, such as mandrels and cutters, through the use of hand tools and machinery.

  • Tools made in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Ensure sufficient tooling is maintained at all times, ensuring that stock requirements are communicated in a timely manner.

    Perform additional duties, in line with operational requirements, as directed by the Production Supervisor, or appointed delegate. Additional duties undertaken in accordance with operational requirements.

    Ensure stock levels are maintained at established levels

Notify the Supervisor of any stock shortages – both manufactured stock and consumables

Partake in monthly cycle counting, counting stock in the packaging area which is critical to maintain correct quantities as per the system.

Qualifications (e.g. Tertiary Studies, Accreditations, Professional Memberships) Mandatory Desired

Certificate III Process Manufacturing x

Experience (e.g. Background, Previous Roles, Industries) Mandatory Desired

Experience in tool manufacturing or metal fabrication x

Advanced mechanical aptitude with the ability to set both software and mechanical parameters on custom manufacturing machinery x

Competent in the use of hand tools, such as a file, vice, hand saw and pedestal grinder. x

Technical Knowledge (Systems, Databases) Mandatory Desired

Competent in navigating manufacturing computer systems x

Capabilities/Skills (e.g. Attention to detail, Influence change, Presentation skills) Mandatory Desired

Excellent attention to detail x

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing x
