Who we are

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant who is a hands-on self-starter committed to getting the job done to join our Financial Reporting team. This is a Hybrid role with a flexible schedule based out of our Virginia Beach, VA location. This role will report to Manager of Financial Reporting and Revenue Recognition. As a team contributor, candidate will lead our financial reporting of actuals to senior leadership and help us advance our organization as we grow organically and through acquisitions. This position will provide exposure to various departments under the Controller Group through reporting and analysis of actual results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the consolidated financial reporting monthly, quarterly and annual processes.

  • Prepare consolidated fluctuation analysis.

  • Responsible for drafting financial statements for management and senior (Consolidated Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement).

  • Applies knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles; applying these principles to transactions, audit areas, and documenting and communicating an understanding and application of these principles are all tasks assigned.

  • Prepares analyses and other information to support the annual audit and quarterly reviews with internal and external auditors.

  • Supports the accurate, timely and complete submission of the division’s financial statements and schedules in support of SEC 10Q/10K filings.

  • Assists in the design, modification, installation, and/or maintenance of accounting systems.

  • Perform contract reviews to ensure adherence with ASC 606 revenue recognition policies and internal checklists.

  • Actively participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

What you need to have:

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Accounting; or 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field.

  • Experience with consolidating multiple companies.

  • Experience with intercompany and elimination activity.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style and messaging to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently with a team in a fast-paced and high- volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

  • Capable of working in a demanding, deadline driven environment with a focus on details and accuracy.

  • Solid analytical and diagnostic skills and ability to break down complex issues and work, with assistance, toward implementing appropriate resolutions.

  • Advanced knowledge of excel and financial modeling used to perform analytical tasks.

  • Understanding of accounting software and ability to learn new systems quickly.

Bonus points for:

  • Certified Public Accountant.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial statements.

  • Experience with SEC 10Q/10K filings.

  • System experience: Deltek Costpoint, ERP systems, SAP, Central Finance, or any cloud-based consolidation tool.

  • ASC 606 – Revenue Recognition experience.

  • Preparing or researching technical accounting memos.
