Mendocino County Office of Education Director of Maintenance and Operations in Ukiah, California

**[BASIC FUNCTION:

[Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Administrative Services, plan, coordinate, participate in and supervise the operations of the maintenance, grounds-keeping, shipping/receiving and custodial services for the Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE).

  • Train, lead, assign, and evaluate Maintenance and Operations staff;
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services in budget planning and in the identification of deferred maintenance priorities;
  • Serve as MCOE compliance officer with regard to ensuring the maintenance of various regulatory agency standards;
  • Chairs the Safety Committee;
  • Act as a consultant for school districts and other LEAs regarding risk management, public contract code, and other maintenance and facility related issues;
  • Represent MCOE at assigned local, regional, and state meetings and JPA boards;
  • Serve as MCOE compliance officer with regard to ensuring that facilities comply with various regulatory agency standards and mandates such as Williams Act, Healthy School Act, Mandated Costs, NIMS/SEMS, etc.;
  • Conduct inservice of staff when necessary;
  • Establish appropriate inventory levels, as needed;
  • Assist in developing an overall long-range maintenance plan for all MCOE facilities;
  • Prioritize staff requests for services and schedule staff as needed to respond efficiently;
  • Maintain MCOE equipment, facilities and vehicles assigned to department in fully operable condition, including minor repairs, as needed, within areas of expertise and budgetary constraints;
  • Maintain all necessary records;
  • Possess public speaking, group problem-solving and leadership skills;
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of staff;
  • Provide direct Maintenance and Operations services;
  • Perform other necessary related duties, as assigned, to ensure a clean, safe and orderly working environment for staff, students and the public;
  • Perform related work as required or assigned.
