JOB SUMMARY

As an MRI Technologist at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in our commitment to providing accurate diagnostic imaging services while maintaining a patient-centered approach. Your responsibilities will include operating MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate patient care, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform MRI imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.

  • Obtain patient medical history and verify patient identification and consent prior to performing procedures.

  • Position patients correctly and operate MRI equipment to obtain diagnostic images of the appropriate anatomy.

  • Monitor patients during imaging procedures and address any adverse reactions or complications.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed.

  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review and interpret imaging results.

  • Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and safety protocols to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Maintain and perform QA on MRI equipment to ensure optimal performance and quality control.

  • Practices medical and surgical aseptic techniques.

  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.

  • Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with advancements in imaging technology and best practices.

  • Willingness to complete x-ray imaging.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology associated program, required.

  • Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), preferred.

  • State of Wyoming Radiologic Technologist, required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.

  • Experience working as an MRI Technologist in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferred.

  • Proficiency in operating MRI equipment and other imaging technology, preferred.

  • Additional certifications or specialized training in MRI imaging, preferred.

Department Specific Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Additional Skills

  • Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.

  • Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology.

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

  • Additional languages preferred.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
