Verdantas Staff Geologist III in Irvine, California

We are seeking an experienced and talented Staff Geologist III to join our Southern California team for our Irvine office.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field/office tasks at direction of senior management staff

  • Perform field trenching/drilling, logging/sampling and geologic mapping tasks

  • Conduct field percolation tests and slope inclinometer monitoring, etc.

  • Mentor/manage staff in completion of geotechnical project work

  • Prepare proposals, grading reports and geotechnical exploration reports

  • Coordinate sub-contractors and staff in field exploration activities

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Geology or related Earth Science

  • 5-10 years professional consulting experience

  • California Professional Geologist (PG) licensure (required)

  • Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical ability, good judgment and management skills

  • Working knowledge of southern California geology, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering and subsurface investigation practices

  • Experience in scoping and performing subsurface exploration programs

  • Experience in managing grading projects from a geotechnical perspective

  • Proficient in trenching and drilling techniques, logging and sampling of soil/bedrock and geologic mapping

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Ability to work in professional manner with sub-contractors and clients

  • Availability to travel to local job sites and open to infrequent distant project work with possible overnight stays
