Talbot County Public Schools Early Childhood Services Coordinator (Infants and Toddlers) in Easton, Maryland

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors Degree in early childhood education and/or specialeducation preferred.
  2. Strong working knowledge of federal, state and local guidelinesregarding infant and toddler services and programs.
  3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities and functionsbetween the Infants and Toddlers Program and support agencies.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Excellent technology skills, specifically in the data managementprogram used by the Infants and Toddlers Program.
  6. Such alternates to the above qualifications as the Board may findappropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor ofSpecial Education

JOB GOAL:To coordinate services for families whose children have qualified forInfants and Toddlers Services, as well as provide special instruction.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To serve as the single point of entry for children birth to age 3 who may qualify for theInfants and Toddlers Program.
  2. To coordinate with supervisor regarding accountability for implementation, operationand evaluation of the local early intervention services in accordance with Part C ofthe Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA-04).
  3. Maintain data within the local infants and toddlers program.
  4. Implement local policies and procedures, procedural safeguards and billing formedical assistance reimbursement consistent with federal and state regulations.
  5. Establish and maintain Early Intervention Records following federal, state and localprocedures, including required contents such as medical assistance, evaluations andassessments, IFSP forms, releases of information, case notes, IFSP reviews.
  6. Coordinate with providers of services for the families served, as well as advocate and problem solve with the families to arrange needed services.
  7. Coordinate with the Family Support Network (FSN) trainer to assist families withpracticing skills in the community/finding more natural supports.
  8. Attend IEP meetings with the purpose of transitioning children at age 3 years, as requested by families.
  9. Coordinate and assist in implementing a comprehensive interagency system ofpersonnel development and family training, based on the needs of all stakeholders.
  10. Provide service coordination and/or special instruction through the IFSP process which will include making visits to natural environments (including, but not limited to: the home, place of work, day are and/or preschool) of the eligible child and/or the family.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee.
