Ford Motor Company CEO Communications Manager in Dearborn, Michigan

Ford Motor Company is undergoing the greatest transformation in the company’s history, with the creation of dedicated, interdependent business units for the beloved, iconic brands that power the company’s ICE business (Ford Blue), the connected vehicles and software services that will enable Ford to lead the electrification revolution (Model e and Ford Drive), the commercial vehicles and services that will ensure Ford stays #1 for business customers (Ford Pro), and the electrification of our 100-year old luxury brand business (Lincoln).

In this position…

Ford Communications serves as an accelerant for the company’s transformation, working to advance Ford’s business success and future vision through innovative, world-class communications that unlock new value. We seek to establish Ford as the world’s most trusted company through purpose-driven storytelling that drives advocacy; inspire a culture of optimism, competitiveness and creative excellence among our Ford team and partners; build the Ford brand and create desire for our products and services; and demonstrate our drive to create value for our stakeholders through Ford+.

This role is hybrid out of Dearborn, MI, relocation package available.

This role may require some events on the evenings and weekends.

What you'll do…

  • Provides oversight of integrated, multi-platform, multi-channel communications initiatives that advance Jim Farley’s CEO Communications Strategy and drive measurable results as we compete in an industry undergoing massive disruption.

  • Through our CEO Communications Strategy, position Jim Farley as a CEO at the forefront of connected vehicles by driving consistent, high-impact storytelling across key stakeholder groups that reinforce the Ford+ plan.

  • Responsible for how Jim shows up in the right CEO-level places; leverages his unique leadership to differentiate the brand and establish Ford as a product creation powerhouse.

  • Collaborate across a complex organization including global Communications organization, business units and agency partners, undergoing massive change to capture rich, data-driven information to support CEO Communications storytelling and assets.

  • Centralize the CEO Communications team operations – including with agency partners -- to drive efficiencies in how we work as we tackle both big projects and the demands of the daily workload.

  • Adopt the Ford+ OS model and behaviors as the global Communications department adopts a data-first approach when evaluating, implementing, and reporting our communications actions.

  • Serve as the POV owner for the CEO Communications team to drive strategic advancement of Jim’s Communications strategy for the year.

  • Lead big moments/bold ideas on the CEO Communications Plan — from message development, team management, and program planning to strategic media relations, cross-functional alignment, and more.

  • Serves as the Communications lead for proactive storytelling, building relationships with top journalists, influencers, and podcasters to tell stories of strategic importance to the company.

  • Find new, non-traditional venues for Jim Farley to reach new audiences that reach customers across our three distinct business segments.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, organizational effectiveness, journalism, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of related experience with an emphasis on executive communications and media relations.

Even better, you may have...

  • Be a trusted partner with strong judgement and relationship building skills.

  • Have the ability to fluidly navigate between strategy and execution -- can develop high-level strategic plans and also produce crisp, clear communications in the CEO’s voice.

  • Demonstrate proven success in building and implementing communication strategies for C-Suite executives.

  • Have strong business acumen, be a strategic thinker, creative, willing to take risks, collaborative, high standards of excellence, highly focused and organized.

  • Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills with a clear understanding that relationships matter.

  • Exhibit broad knowledge of recent industry best and emerging practices, including digital and social platforms to engage key stakeholders including employees.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above?
