The Sherwin-Williams Company Production Utility Operator in Columbus, Ohio

This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the facility. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for a variety of tasks in the Columbus Plant. Duties are routine, requiring some degree of independent judgment in making minor decisions. The employee is required to work the shift that is assigned which could include day or night shifts. This position will support all department employees at the facility. Additional Information: Shift Options: Monday - Friday 6AM - 2PM or night shift rotating continuous operation schedule 6PM-6AM (36/48 hours weekly) with $1.00 shift differential Clean Process Vessels Perform drum/tote offs when necessary Load recycling trailers Manually clean pumps, tanks, valves and all associated parts related to breakdown and assembly of filling equipment and maintain cleanliness of area. May operate heavy cleaning equipment such as scrubbing machines, high-speed buffers, or wet and dry vacuum. Identifies cleaning problems and determines appropriate remedies. Must be able to work a 12-hours a day schedule. Knows and willingly practices all safety rules and procedures and participates in the plant safety program including the wearing of appropriate safety apparel. Supports the filling department by providing packaging and taking away all finished goods Assists with daily tasks within the shipping & receiving department Must be able to work overtime as required, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be certified by the Company to operate forklift and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform housekeeping duties as assigned and keeps area and equipment clean. Responsible for performing all tasks in compliance with the MCP program Responsible for repacking raw materials to ship out to the customer Properly handle hazardous waste as part of manufacturing operations, maintenance, raw material handling, and clean-up activities, in order to protect personnel, property and the environment. Follow all EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations and guidelines, including RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act). Maintain ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 certifications. This position will also be classified as a "Hazardous Waste Handler". Responsible for the direct handling of hazardous waste generated in their area. This includes assuring that wastes are placed into the proper containers, waste containers are properly labeled, waste containers are kept closed except when adding or removing waste and wastes are stored with labels visible and with adequate space. Responsibilities also include performing emergency response procedures in the event of a hazardous material emergency. Both initial training for new employees and annual refresher training will consist of the same instruction. Facility personnel will be trained by corporate instructors (or other representatives trained by corporate instructors to conduct training) via lectures, slides and videotapes in the proper procedures in each of the following hazardous waste areas: hazardous waste identification, use and management of containers, labeling/marking, accumulation area requirements, emergency procedures/ contingency plan, spill response and cleanup If designated to handle Hazardous Waste 90-day accumulation area, then additional training will be required: DOT HazMat 126F. Minimum Requirements: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future Have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility Preferred Qualifications: Have at least one (1) year of work exper
