Binghamton City School District Restorative Practice Coordinator in Binghamton, New York

The Binghamton City School District is seeking candidates to fill the anticipated Restorative Practice Coordinator position for the 2024-2025 school year with an effective start date on or about September 2, 2024. These are full-time, probationary tenure-track positions.

Preferred NYSED Certification.

Job Qualifications

Job Goal: To support full implementation of Restorative Practices across the district Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in early childhood, elementary education, secondary education, special education, school psychology or a closely related field • Minimum of three years’ experience teaching regular or special education

• Knowledge of research and practices related to Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices

• Understanding of scientifically based research

• Teacher leadership experience, organizational skills, and communication abilities to effectively coach and support teachers and their instructional teams

Functions, Duties, Responsibilities:

• 40% or more classroom teaching that involves modeling and co-teaching around best instructional practices related to restorative practices and social-emotional learning

• Maintain coaching log to reflect classroom teaching and coaching

• Coordinate overall professional development for Restorative Practices

• Carry out needed research and study to gain full working knowledge of Restorative Practices, demonstrating its effectiveness during and following implementation

• Promotes the use of researched-based interventions in Tier I – Classroom, Tier II – classrooms/interventionists and Tier III – Special Education Classrooms

• Provide training, support and monitoring to ensure clear expectations with instruction, intervention and practices at Tier I, Tier II and Tier III

• Plan and deliver ongoing staff development for teachers and paraprofessionals with respect to Restorative Practices

• Be an active participant on the District Behavior Task Force, Community Partners and other related communities • Seek out additional funding sources to support the development of the program • Fulfill assigned and/or additional duties from the direction of Principals and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability.
